Telangana Budget Session likely from October 20
Hyderabad: The much-awaited Budget Session of Telangana state Assembly is likely to begin on October 20. However, the final date will be finalised after Dasara. “The Assembly Session may be held around Deepavali. If the Session begins before Deepavali, the government plans to have a three-day holiday for Deepavali,” said a source in the Legislature department said.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao discussed various issues, including the Assembly Session, with Legislative Council chairman Swami Goud, Assembly Speaker Madhusudhana Chary, Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy, irrigation and legislative affairs minister T. Harish Rao and other party leaders.
Mr Rao asked party leaders to propagate that the government would complete the Telangana grid and ensure safe drinking water to every home in the next four years before seeking vote in the 2019 Assembly elections. Plans are also afoot to conduct orientation classes for legislators on legislative rules, members’ role and other functions.
Meanwhile, the energy department has been instructed to avoid power cuts to the farm sector in view of growing protests from farmers. Sources said that the Chief Minister asked senior officials to ensure seven-hour power supply to the farm sector and to take immediate measures to purchase power from any source to meet the demand.
