New Pension, Ration cards from Nov
Hyderabad:Fresh pension and ration cards are going to be issue from November as the T-Government is planning bring in complete transparency into various schemes designed for poorer sections.
Civil Supplies Minister Etela Rajender and Cabinet sub-committee emphasised on issuing new cards in place of the existing ones to ensure zero pilferage.
Talking to media, the minister said applications would be invited from eligible beneficiaries of PDS and pension schemes till October 15.
Information submitted in applications would be equated with the data collected during the Comprehensive Household Survey and afterward field level inspection would be taken up to determine whether the applicant falls under the BPL category or not.
The committee in principle has the same opinion to enhance the quantity of rice supplied under Public Distribution System (PDS) from the present 20 kg to 30 kg per family per month for BPL families and is also of the opinion that the government should not distribute the rice free to the beneficiaries. Instead it should be supplied at Rs 3 a kg.
The meeting was attended by Ministers K Taraka- rama Rao, T Harish Rao, P Mahender Reddy, G Jagadish Reddy, Jogu Ramanna and IAS officials Raymond Peter and C Parthasarathi.
