Mono Rail to go up the Hill shrine from Tirupati to Tirumala
Hyderabad: Day may not be far off for devotees of Lord Venkateswara to go up the hill shrine from Tirupati to Tirumala in a monorail. The Tirupati Urban Development Authority (Tuda) has submitted a feasibility report for a Rs.9000 crore 27 km rail project along the ghat trek route to be covered in 25 to 30 minutes. Monorail will drastically minimize the accidents on the ghat road," says TUDA.
The report was prepared by private consultant Urban Mass Transport Company (UMTC) and the cost of preparing the same was funded by the Centre and Tuda. The monorail can ferry about 300 passengers at a time. And is part of Tirupati Master Plan clubbed with the smart city initiative of NDA govt.
Around 60,000 devotees visit Tirumala every day for darshan with the walking route taking about 5 hours for the devotee to reach his destination. Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu, who hails from Andhra Pradesh heads the Union urban development ministry which is keen for the project.
