Telangana recommends PV Narasimha Rao for Bharat Ratna
Hyderabad: The Telangana state government is all set to propose Bharat Ratna for former prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao. The government has decided to send the proposal, recommending Narasimha Rao’s name to the Centre shortly. Former prime minister, and a former chief minister of united Andhra Pradesh and linguist, Narasimha Rao initiated economic reforms and liberalisation in the country which opened the doors to foreign companies in all sectors.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will approve the file recommending Narasimha Rao’s name for the highest civilian award. Sources said the name of Telangana ideologue, Prof. Jayashanker has been recommended posthumously for Padma Vibhushan and also that of Prof. G. Ram Reddy. Film maker G. Narsing Rao, artist Kapu Rajaiah and others name figure in the Padma Sri list. Initially, about 30 odd personalities were considered but subsequently the list was pruned to half by a high level committee.
