Sonali Bendre gets back to fiction after 10 years
Mumbai: Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre seems to have taken a liking to the small screen. She has been part of reality shows like Zee Cinestars Ki Khoj and Mission Sapne for a while now. And now she is poised to enter the fiction space with a new show titled Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Ye.
Sonali says, “Initially, I was a little skeptical about taking up a fiction show. But after Ekta narrated Shobha’s character to me, I agreed instantly. The strength of the character and how she faces her life head-on is what appealed to me. The fact that instead of being treated like a doormat, she takes charge and decides to make a fresh start, appeals to me. I hope the audience accepts me in the new role.”
The actress admits that she prefers the new trend of finite series and that’s what prompted her to make a comeback in a fiction show. Sonali used to be a part of Kya Masti Kya Dhoom. “I gave my nod to Ajeeb Dastan… as it has a finite number of episodes. We have a graph that will be followed. I will be doing a fiction show after 10 years. The look of my character is very believable. I feel the show will work as the story line is so hard hitting. I’m excited to move from non-fiction to fiction. Sometimes I feel like I am shooting for a film there isn’t much of a difference.”
While Sonali relates to her character Shobha, a major difference between Shobha and her is the fact that Shobha loves rains. “I have never liked the rains,” Sonali says adding, “It leads to traffic jam and water logging. But my character on the other hand loves the rains and everything feels romantic to her. However, both me and Shobha need our morning cup of coffee as we absolutely cannot function without it.”
