Sankarabharanam now in Tamil
Hyderabad: The Telugu classic Sankarabharanam that was released in 1979, changed the face of Telugu cinema. And after 35 years of its release, the film is now releasing in Tamil on October 2, in a digital format. The soul of the film is its music and popular playback singer Balasubramanyam lent his melodious voice for the Tamil version as well. For the Tamil version too SPB has sung the songs.
“This film has been a very special one in my career,” says S.P. Balasubra-manyam. He remembers that when the film’s director K. Viswa-nath approach-ed him for the songs, he openly confessed to the director that he was not an expert in classical music. “But I thank Pugalzhendhi, assistant of K. Viswanath, who actually trained me in Carnatic music. I used to hear the songs recorded Pugazhendhi's voice relentlessly to get used to the track and then record the tracks,” says SPB, who won his first National award with this film.
