Kurnool bandh for capital demand
The students’ unions have shut down Kurnool against the decision taken by the state cabinet to establish the new capital of residuary Andhra Pradesh in between Guntur-Vijayawada. With the only demand of establishing the capital in Rayalaseema, which has been backward in development, the students have closed down the city.
The students’s unions referred to the Sribagh agreement that took place between Andhra and Rayalaseema and demanded for setting up the capital in Rayalaseema. The bandh was a successful one as voluntarily the shops and other avenues were shut down. The students’ unions warned that they would go for a fresh agitation, if the capital is not planned in Rayalaseema.
