IIM in Vizag to be functional from 2015
Visakhapatnam: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) proposed to be established here will in all probability start functional from the next academic year.
The IIM will temporarily be housed in the Andhra University campus while a permanent one would come up at Gambheram in Anandapuram mandal.
Experts and officials from National Mission on Education through Communication and Information Technology Mission director Praveen Prakash will be visiting here on September 19. They will inspect the site that spread over 334 acres, the campus will be 25 kms away from the railway station and 30 km from Airport.
Meanwhile, the District Collector N Yuvaraj inspected the Andhra University Andhra Bank School of Business Building that was located near AU to house it temporarily and expressed satisfaction. The 20,000 sft vacant space in the two storeyed building is ready for immediate occupation. The building has all facilities like class rooms, offices for the faculty and administrative staff, seminar halls and conference rooms is an ideal location.
