After ‘Raaz 3D’, director Vikram Bhatt and Bollywood beauty Bipasha Basu have teamed up for a science fiction thriller titled ‘Creature 3D’. Pakistani model turned actor Imran Abbas Naqvi makes his Bollywood debut with this film which released today. Bollywood3 reviews this supernatural creature flick and so read on to see how it is.
Story:
Ahana Dutt (Bipasha Basu) lands in the beautiful forests of Himachal Pradesh and establishes the ‘Glendale Boutique Hotel’. One fateful day, a honeymooning couple who had visited the hotel go through a horrific incident which ends in the husband getting killed and then the next day we see the cook getting killed. Ahana and the forest officials think it’s a Panther that is on an attacking spree. Kunal Anand (Imran Abbas Naqvi), who visits the hotel, gets close to Ahana and he takes the help of his friends in killing the panther.
To everyone’s horror, a supernatural creature attacks the hotel inmates on a fateful evening. Who or what is this creature that has attacked them? What is the future of Ahana’s hotel? Will she able to see the end of this creature? To know the answers, you need to watch this film on the silver screen.
Plus Points:
Coming to the leading lady Bipasha Basu, she has performed to her best and carries the whole show on her shoulders. She has emoted very well in the scenes where she has to fight the creature face-to-face. Imran Abbas Naqvi has done a decent job in his Bollywood debut and he has given out a good performance in the climax. The actors should get more credit for their performances as creature is a graphic effect and the actors had to perform while imagining it. Mukul Dev and Deepraj Rana have done their parts pretty well.
The interval episode has been designed well so as to create an impact on the audience. Few scenes in the second half where Bipasha and group try to kill the creature are shot well.
Minus Points:
The major minus point for this film is the pace as the first half of the film is dead slow and the audience can’t stop yawning till the interval bang. There is no logic in the storyline which makes the film fall flat and there is an unnecessary love track between Bipasha and Imran Abbas which lacks the much needed chemistry.
This film is termed as a thriller, but there are no scenes where the audience can get feel the thrill or a sense of fear. It seems the filmmakers were concentrating on designing the creature that they ended up forgetting on the other aspects of movie making.
Technical Points:
First and foremost, let’s talk about the VFX! The half man-half lizard like creature has been created well and this gives out a horrific feel on seeing it on the big screen. Coming to the cinematography, the visuals have been captured well and they look on the screen. Songs, which are unnecessary in this type of a film genre, have just been included to increase the runtime. The background music is critical to create an impact in thriller films, but unfortunately it does no such thing in ‘Creature 3D’.
The film’s editor should have concentrated more on pruning the length especially in the first half where one can easily chop off atleast 20 minutes. Coming to the captain of the ship, the director Vikram Bhatt made a brave attempt to make a film on a non-living thing, but he failed miserably in executing it. He only focused on designing the creature and seems that he had forgotten the rest of the other movie making departments.
Verdict:
Overall, except for few scenes where the supernatural creature attacks the hotel inmates and interval episode, there is nothing much in this film. It lacks the usual Vikram Bhatt’s special elements like horrific scenes and steamy romances. One can easily skip this film and wait for it to come out on television.
